Vintage 1960s Yellow Linen Fingertip Towel

Beautiful vintage fingertip or tea towel in warm yellow, circa the 1960s. Embroidered with folk style people in cross stitch, and has blue borders and something in the center that looks like letters but I can't make it out, it seems very specific to a certain culture. Forgive my ignorance of what this culture is. All sides have light fluffy fringe. Measures approx. 9.5" x 15". Looks and feels like a linen or linen blend to me.
