Gorgeous wall hanging from Burma (Myanmar) called a Kalaga. Features people riding in a cart drawn by an elephant. Possibly a scene depicting Buddha or King Rama. This particular Kalaga is quite ornate, utterly dripping in sequins and beads. The main characters are raised from the black velvet backing fabric with some sort of stuffing. Can be hung with curtain clips. Would be a lovely framed too. Quite a large one. Measures approx. 26" square. It was purchased by the original owner in the 1940s. It may be ( and probably is) older. Excellent vintage condition, a few missing stones and bead from the circle of these, and some stitches that attach it to the back black muslin are loose. That's all I could find worth noting. This is a very special piece.
Please note, most of my items are vintage and/or made using vintage materials. I do my best to list any major issues but some signs of life and love are to be expected and only add to their charm.
