Stunning Victorian jacket. Brown cotton velvet with buttons up the front and boning round the waist for shape. There is an inner panel at the waist with hooks and eyes to attach to a matching area on the opposite side to lend support at the waist. Beautiful box pleats in the back. No label. Later 1800s, circa 1880s. I'd say extra small.
Great to excellent vintage condition, especially given its age. It does need some TLC but with that it should be fine to wear albeit gently of course. The buttons have all been removed so you'll need new ones, and the hooks of the hook and eyes on the inner waist support are missing too. There are some older repairs under the arms and a few little dings here and there. But by far the biggest issue is a tear along the inside of the button placket. The good news about this is that its the side that would be hidden once buttoned up. And its a fairly straight tear so I'm thinking that patching that to repair and reinforce it would pretty much fix it. Priced accordingly and as is.
Measurements when lying flat.
Armpit to armpit across bust: 35"
Waist: approx. 25"
Shoulder to waist at side: 13"
Please note: These are vintage, preworn and/or preloved items. I do my utmost best to list any issues, but signs of wear should be expected, and there are occasionally small things I won't deem worthy of note. Please feel free to send me a missive with any questions. I'm truly happy to help in any way possible and I'm always up for a chat. Any accessories shown, including crinolines, are for display only, not included unless otherwise stated.
